Arusha Coffee Lodge by Elewana

You stay at Arusha Coffee Lodge among the coffee fields of Burka Coffee Estate, a working plantation near Arusha. The thirty wooden chalets are set around the original landowner’s house from the early 1900s, with twelve plantation suites and eighteen plantation rooms. Each has a veranda, an in-room log fire, and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and bath.

The lodge runs coffee tours that show how the beans move from tree to cup — cultivation, harvesting, drying, and roasting — ending with a tasting of the farm’s blends. Families use the playground with its jungle gym, slide, and swings, and children can build their own pizzas to bake in the wood-fired oven.

The main house holds a restaurant, a café bistro, and a lounge, all with open log fires. Outside, the enclosed swimming pool sits near the spa, where treatments include massages and facials. Five boutique shops sell crafts, jewelry, and clothing on the grounds.

The coffee fields are the reason the lodge is here at all. You wake to the smell of roasting beans and the sound of pickers gathering the harvest.
